Ready to taste the first wine of the new year?
Today the 2010 Beaujolais Nouveau is being released everywhere in the world (always on the 3rd Thursday of November). Parties are traditionally held at midnight to celebrate the release, and then continue throughout the day.
This year I’m headed to La Cote Creperie in Seattle for this fun, annual event. We’ll be tasting a couple of the Beaujolais Nouveau, as well as a Beaujolais Village, paired with some delicious French food and live music. If you’re in the Seattle area, join us!
This “fresh off the vines” wine, made from Gamay grapes (from an area just north of Lyon), is meant for immediate drinking, and this year’s release has been described as “sweet and authentic”. Whatever that means! I’m just going for the party!
See the Beaujolais area on this French wine map.
Adventure on, and sip your wine!

Ooh, have fun! I was in France one year for this – lots of the factories finished early so that everyone could venture out and “taste!” 🙂
