Welcome to Destiladeras Beach  – a beautiful family-oriented beach just 22 miles from Puerto Vallarta. This is a five Kilometer (three mile) spot of beauty,  where it is common to see the young and old – children playing, sandcastles being built, and boogie boards galore.  It’s a clean, windswept beach with parking and is located halfway between La Cruz and Punta Mita on the beach road. Go in the morning to rent a table, umbrella and four chairs.  There are excellent amenities with showers and toilets too.  Or,  you can saunter along the beachline to find a quieter beach spot for more peace and contemplation. And if you are like to surf, on the southern part of Destiladeras Beach there are waves up to five feet high, to practice your surfing skills.

And for our historians…Destiladeras Beach has been used for over a hundred years by local fishermen.  Locals built simple palapas and for many years sold fresh ceviche and fruit.

The entrance to Destiladeras Beach is just past the kilometer 7 marker on the Hwy, It’s also accessible via a short bus ride. Local buses that go to Punta Mita stop along the way; just make sure they don’t go along the new highway, otherwise, you’ll be left a mile away from the beach. Buses that go to Punta Mita are from La Cruz, Bucerías, Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta. From PV you can catch them at the stadium, Plaza Las Glorias, in front of Walmart or at the airport bus stop.

BONUS: you can catch plenty of whale activity not too far offshore. Look for the blowholes or giant splashes from the whales breaching.
