Universal Hip Hop Museum Hosts Block Party for Hip Hop’s 50th Birthday

In honor of Hip Hops 50th Birthday on August 11thThe Universal Hip Hop Museum is throwing a block party!

The exciting day will kick off on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 12:00 pm ET with a VIP Inaugural Exhibition and toast, hosted by Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson located at 575 Exterior, Bronx NY.

The block party, featuring RAPAMANIA, a showcase, produced by Van Silk, and sponsored by AARP will be hosted by Original Spinderella and UHHM curator Pete NiceCoke LaRock & Sheri Sher, and will include performances by Chill Rob GSweet TeeChuck DFreedom Williams and more. The event will also highlight dancers from Red Bull’s BC One Open Cypher, and live graffiti murals done by Tats Cru, Lady Pink, Will Power and Queen Andrea, courtesy of Thrive Collective and sponsored by Council Member Diana Ayala. 

The Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM) was founded by Rocky Bucano and a group of iconic entrepreneurs and artists including Kurtis Blow, Ice T, LL Cool J, Nas, and many others. They joined forces to create the world’s first Hip Hop museum in the Bronx.

Anchored in the birthplace of the culture, the UHHM provides a space unparalleled educational and entertainment experiences around the Hip Hop culture of the past, present, and future. It celebrates and preserves the history of local and global Hip Hop music and culture to inspire, empower, and promote understanding.

Hip Hop’s 50th Birthday Jam block party will be held from 12:00pm – 6:00 pm ET at Mill Pond Park, Bronx.
